ChefSpecial is an easy-to-use food costing app for iPhone and iPod Touch.
At its most basic, ChefSpecial allows sous chefs and line chefs to quickly and accurately come up with a cost effective price to charge for their daily specials.
To use ChefSpecial, just enter a few simple numbers:
•the price per pound of the meat or veg in your dish
•the portion size
•the target food cost percentage your restaurant wants to maintain
Optionally, you can add a waste percentage for factoring in the cost from losing weight when filleting fish for example. Also, you can factor in additional plate cost, meaning any sides (starch, veg, etc.) on the plate you want to add in.
